John H. Young, Jr. named CEO of EADS North America Defense

Arlington, Virginia, March 17, 2006

John H. Young, Jr. has been named Chief Executive Officer of EADS North America Defense, placing a highly experienced industry executive at the helm of EADS North America’s business unit responsible for expanding the company’s presence in U.S. homeland and national security markets.

With Young’s appointment, David R. Oliver, Jr. returns to his primary responsibility as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of EADS North America and will continue to serve as a member of the EADS North America Defense Board of Directors.

Young comes to EADS North America Defense from Northrop Grumman Corporation, where he spent more than 32 years in various executive positions – most recently as the Corporate Vice President for Contracts and Pricing.

“John Young is an extremely valuable addition to EADS North America Defense, which currently is positioned to support key U.S. military and homeland security efforts, including the Army’s Light Utility Helicopter,” said Ralph D. Crosby, Jr., Chairman and CEO of EADS North America. “Dave Oliver’s leadership in launching EADS North America Defense has set the stage for our continued growth in the U.S.”

During his career at Northrop Grumman, Young led the company’s airborne early warning and electronic warfare (AEW&EW) systems efforts as Vice President and deputy business area leader in the Integrated Systems sector. In this executive role, Young was responsible for managing all aspects of electronic warfare projects, including the EA-6B Prowler and the Improved Capability III programs, as well the Prowler’s E/A-18G follow-on.

Other senior management positions for Young at Northrop Grumman included Vice President and CFO for AEW&EW Systems, Managing Director of the commercial and military products strategic business unit of the former Grumman Electronics Systems Division, and Program Vice President - Operations and Finance for Grumman's space operations.

Young served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War with the VMCJ-2 photo reconnaissance and electronic warfare squadron. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the New York Institute of Technology.
